VoIP Solutions for the BirdsNestled in the heart of Salt Lake City amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life you will find the Tracy Aviary. It was a charitable act, by Salt Lake City banker Russell Lord Tracy, which founded the Tracy Aviary when he donated his private bird collection to the City of Salt Lake and its children. Open to the public since 1938, the Tracy Aviary maintains a collection of approximately 400 birds representing about 135 species. The Aviary fosters caring for the natural world, enriching and transforming lives through its connection with birds, many of which are considered rare or endangered. Over the years the evolution of Telecommunications has caused an ever widening gap between the parks desired offerings and its ability to leverage technology to provide these services. Recently, the Park began a series of transformations, renovating older buildings as well as addressing the aging technology infrastructure. Challenges they were encountering were: 1. Outdated by Weather, Time and the demands for newer Communications Technology Solutions, infrastructure within the Aviary was compromised 2. Ongoing construction and increasing costs of materials made the deployment of a new solution logistically tricky 3. Data and Voice communications became increasingly difficult and costly to maintain due to the growth of the Aviary. As a result of this challenge the Aviary sought a solution which would Unify and Converge their communications systems in such a way as to allow for Modular, Flexible, Easy-To-Manage and Cost Effective Growth. Such a solution would also evolve with the Aviary as its needs would certainly change over time. Managed Service Solution from ProTel NetWorks. After careful evaluation of the Aviary's needs ProTel NetWorks designs the needed solution by: 1. Establishing a Secure WIFI Network connecting the Chase Mill, Administration, Front and Side Entrances. This solution leaves a "Zero Foot Print" on the grounds allowing easier access to network applications and appliances. In addition, each of the afore mentioned buildings received a high speed layer 3 network switch which will have a positive impact on Local Area Network access speeds. 2. Deploying a MITEL Telephony platform providing seamless VoIP communications over the new WIFI infrastructure. This is the first step in unifying voice on the desk to be followed by incorporating mobile communications within the grounds 3. Bundling the entire investment in a Managed Services solution accounting for any future Service, Warranty, Adds, Moves and Changes needs. It is an honor to do business with the Aviary. We look forward to a long relationship.
